When the poem “Dear Selection Committee” came along, it basically flipped the bird at the kind of exploitative capitalism that harms workers by trapping them in unfulfilling, unappreciated jobs.

Everything feels so fragile now; I want to take great care with it all. I don’t want to take anything for granted.

I’d like readers and listeners to walk away thinking about the ways that we as humans are interconnected and how important it is for us to treat each other with dignity, compassion, and grace.
